NEW YORK POSITIONS

PRINT PRODUCTION MANAGER, NEW YORK

Summary: Responsible for management of print production schedule (which includes digital replicas) and ensuring that all the deadlines within it are met. Serve as main point of coordination amongst ad sales, marketing, editorial and circulation departments, as well as external production and edit teams. Manage all aspects of book assembly and versioning with relevant stakeholders. Oversee print production budget, price out special production pieces as needed, review and approve all printing invoices.

  • Coordinate with Publishers and Finance department on all paper orders
  • Produce run sheet and adjust pagination requests for each book
  • Conduct all outreach to booked advertisers for missing ad materials
  • Oversee the Send My Ad creative delivery system
  • Review the Send My Ad system to ensure all creative is present & reach out to advertisers for any missing creative
  • Serve as main point of contact for all creative inquiries & advertising collateral collection
  • Oversee production and execution of all special units and inserts
  • Review print pagination and dummy book against all IO requests and requirements
  • Identify all advertiser digital pagination requests and make all necessary changes for each digital edition
  • Upload and approve all files to Quad's printing system
  • Review digital pagination and approve before live date

  • Coordinate amongst publishers and production and finance departments to manage scheduling and timeliness needs of anticipated uploads (Insertion orders, billing information, creative) for all order types (digital, print, event, etc.)
  • Track expenses against budget, and review all printer invoices for accuracy and cost savings
  • Make proposals to maximize any cost savings opportunities
  • Maintain all salesforce print entries and ensure the system matches all insertion orders (sizing, rates, etc.)
  • Update all salesforce print entries with correct positioning
  • Create and maintain the positioning chart for The Advocate
  • Develop a library of all special unit quotes and special unit offerings
  • Provide recommendations to all publishers during the pagination process, and ensure all parties are informed and pacing towards the pagination deadlines
  • Enter all billing information into Salesforce
  • Attend the print portion of the sales meeting to provide deadlines and maintain an understanding of all pending print business

Required Qualification/Skills:

  • At least 5-years of print production management experience
  • Multi-media ad sales analysis experience a plus
  • Experience and proficient skill level with SalesForce, preferred
  • Proficiency with general computer skills including: Powerpoint, Excel, Social Media, etc.

INTEGRATED AD SALES & MARKETING COORDINATOR - NEW YORK

Job Summary:   Provides NY-based senior sales staff with integrated sales and marketing support.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Here Media’s advertising capabilities and how they related to the client’s KPI’s and strategies.
  • Aadministrative support for the NY sales team with mailings, scheduling, updating sales materials for sales calls, client correspondence, meeting preparation, travel organization, and other general duties.
  • RFPs: Proactive approach to processing RFPs – both print, digital and multi-platform, including (but not limited to) compiling historical information, brainstorming on potential concepts and writing proposals – including projecting rates & program ideas based on client objectives.
  • Work on multi-platform programs from concept brainstorming and proposal development to potential assistance in program execution/recap follow up.
  • Assist with presentation preparation (Updating PowerPoint presentations)
  • Research industry trends for department, including Salesforce reports, Ad Database, and Magazine Radar
  • May occasionally attend meetings locally in NY with reps on ad calls, interacting with clients and preparing meeting materials such as presentation decks, proposals, etc.
  • Compile editorial credits and facilitate meetings with Fashion department

  • Experience and knowledge of fashion industry is a plus.

VIDEO EDITOR - LOS ANGELES

Job Summary: While especially focused on editing content, the Video Editor oversees post-production and completion of all short-form videos across Here Media editorial sites. The editor is responsible for meeting goals for quantity of videos and traffic on Here Media sites and social platforms.

  • Responsible for editing short-form video packages for The Advocate, Pride and Out, or any other Here Media brands.
  • Directly edit, export, upload and submit final videos for publishing on Wochit and Premiere.
  • Help meet a target number of videos per site as set by Video Producer.
  • Maintains the voice of each brand in video and advises others on best practices.
  • Attend morning meetings to further integrate video into the editorial pipeline.
  • Responsible for breaking news quickly via a video format when possible, and for working during breaking news situations.

  • Produce film and deliver footage to Video Editor while working with Video Producer on conceptualizing content.

  • Collaborates closely with Video Producer to produce, organize, and coordinate personnel, logistics and equipment needs for Here Media shoots.
  • Maintains the voice of each brand in video and advises others on best practices.
  • Attend morning meetings to further integrate video into the editorial pipeline, taking advantage of wire video available on services such as Wochit to enhance the daily report.
  • Responsible for breaking news quickly via a video format when possible, and for working during breaking news situations.
  • Master use of current equipment and advises on future purchases.
  • Integral in the process of maintaining the in-house video production studio by overseeing organization of space and equipment usage.
  • Occasionally assists in video editing, photography, graphics, and writing efforts for large projects.

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior video production experience required.
  • Must have experience using Canon DSLRs or comparable video equipment.
  • Must have experience using Adobe Premiere or comparable video editing software.

  • Must have understanding of good journalism, ability to produce and research on deadline.

Here Media offers qualified, college-level students the opportunity to participate in quarterly, uncompensated internships available in our offices in Los Angeles and New York City. INTERNSHIP – GRAPHIC DESIGN, NEW YORK

The Graphic Design Intern will have the opportunity to work closely with the marketing and design team, gaining hands on experience designing in a corporate setting. Interns will be involved in a variety of creative tasks including, but not limited to, creative brainstorms, maintaining internal brand collateral, photo-research, creative mocks for marketing presentations, layout design, etc.

The most qualified intern candidates will be college students studying Graphic Design with a focus on marketing, advertising and social media. We're looking for dedicated, committed candidates that have an interest in the LGBT market. Additionally, interns should be efficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office (specifically Powerpoint), detail oriented, able to multitask and capable of working in a fast paced environment.

INTERNSHIP - DIGITAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP, NEW YORK

The Digital Media Intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design and production of large-scale, ad-supported websites including Out.com, Advocate.com, and OutTraveler.com. Interns will be involved with a wide variety of tasks including wire framing, prototyping, preparation of mockups, and final Q/A. Interns will gain real-world insight in the development of high-traffic web sites from initial concept to final launch.

The most qualified intern candidates will be college students studying Digital Media with a major focus on web design as it relates to news, advertising and social media. We're looking for dedicated, committed candidates that have an interest in the LGBT market. Additionally, interns should have basic familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite. Any HTML or coding skills are a plus.

INTERNSHIP – INTEGRATED MARKETING INTERN, NEW YORK

The Integrated Marketing Intern will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with both print and digital advertising. Interns will participate in sales and marketing meetings and work directly with those who are experienced in the field. Interns will be involved with many tasks including conducting research, competitive analysis, preparing media kits, planning and staffing advertiser events (Pride Events, OUT 100, etc.).

Interns will work alongside marketing managers in organizing, researching and executing long-term projects or special marketing initiatives.

The most qualified applicants will be college students with a career focus in advertising and marketing, with interest and skills in the print, digital and social media medium. We're looking for dedicated, committed candidates that have an interest in the LGBT market. Additionally, the candidate is detail-oriented, able to multitask, and capable of working independently. Familiarity with blogging, wikis, and social media is a plus.

INTERNSHIP – EDITORIAL INTERN, LOS ANGELES

Editorial internships are offered in Los Angeles for Advocate.com, which includes the opportunity to work with our partner site geared toward LGBT millennials, Pride.com. Interns will play an active role in the day-to-day production of online editorial, including content gathering, research, reporting, editing, and more. Writing assignments may be possible, depending upon qualifications, but cannot be guaranteed. Interns are invited to join daily editorial planning meetings and will work closely with editors, and photo department, and other staff to complete both assigned projects and stories of the intern’s choosing. Preferred editorial intern candidates will have a related field of study and a career interest in journalism or publishing. Those with published clips or editorial roles in print or digital publications, including school papers and magazines, are encouraged to apply.
