LOS ANGELES POSITIONS

SOCIAL MEDIA EDITOR, PRIDE.COM - LOS ANGELES

Job Summary:

While especially focused on Pride.com, the Social Media Editor manages the accounts of several major Pride Media brands while driving traffic and increasing the company’s reach across all social platforms. The editor is an integral part of the Branded Content Studio, which creates and manages campaigns for our advertising partners.

  • Facilitates creation of memes and other content exclusive to social media.
  • Responsible for breaking news quickly on social media accounts.
  • Responsible for increasing number of fans across social media accounts for PRIDE.com.
  • Directly composes the majority of posts for PRIDE.com, while also contributing to social media posting for all Pride Media brands, including The Advocate and Out.
  • Maintains the voice of each brand on social and advises others on best practices.
  • Writes daily stories as requested, while also contributing research and writing to editorial projects.
  • Master use of analytics to analyze the state of our brands on social or performance of specific campaigns. 
  • Produces social media reports when needed.
  • Manages paid campaigns on social media that help meet monthly traffic goals or deliver branded content campaigns to target audiences.
  • Occasionally assists in marketing efforts and company events.
  • Implements marketing campaigns on behalf of advertisers or Pride Media partners.
  • Keeps updated on trends and news in the social media space that could benefit Pride Media.

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have experience managing online communities of at least 250,000 followers.
  • Must have existing relationships with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. 
  • Must have experience using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and other emerging platforms.
  • Must be organized, detail orientated, and able to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities.
  • Must have understanding of good journalism, able to write and research on deadline.
  • Must be able to use online content-management systems.
  • Competence as a copy editor and knowledge of AP style a must.
  • Experience using Photoshop or other tools for basic photo manipulation required.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and time constraints.
  • Excellent communication and people skills needed to work well with staff and outside contacts.

VIDEOGRAPHER - LOS ANGELES

Job Summary: The Videographer is primarily focused on filming a diverse range of content in studio and on location. They can complete projects through post-production and publishing. The videographer is responsible for meeting goals for quantity of videos and plays on all company sites and social platforms.

  • Responsible for filming short-form editorial video on The Advocate, Pride and Out, or any other company brands.
  • Produce film and deliver footage to Video Editor while working with Director, Editorial Video on conceptualizing content.
  • Occasionally assists in video editing, photography, graphics, and writing efforts for large projects.
  • Help meet a target number of videos per site as set by Director, Editorial Video.
  • Collaborates closely with Director, Editorial Video to pitch stories, produce, coordinate personnel and equipment logistics for company shoots.
  • Maintains the voice of each brand in video and advises others on best practices.
  • Attend morning meetings to further integrate video into the editorial pipeline, taking advantage of wire video available on services such as Wochit.com to enhance the daily report.
  • Responsible for breaking news quickly via a video format when possible, and for working during breaking news situations.
  • Master use of current equipment and advises on future purchases.
  • Integral in the process of maintaining the in-house video production studio by overseeing organization of space and equipment usage.
  • Keeps updated on trends and news in the video space that could benefit our brands.

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior video production experience required. Strong cinematography and/or camera operating skills preferred.
  • Must have in-studio lighting skills and experience filming documentaries, red carpet events, and news packages.
  • Must have experience using Canon DSLRs, Canon c300’s and comparable video equipment.
  • Must have experience using audio equipment such as lavaliers, boom microphones and external audio recorders.
  • Must have experience using Adobe Premiere to edit, create titles/graphics, and add captions. After Effects and Photoshop skills are a plus.
  • Must be organized, detail orientated, and able to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities.
  • Must have understanding of good journalism, ability to produce and research on deadline.
  • On or off-camera interviewing experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to use online content-management systems.
  • Competence as a copy editor and knowledge of AP style a must.

INTERNSHIP POSITIONS

INTERNSHIP POSITIONS DESCRIPTION

Here Media offers qualified, college-level students the opportunity to participate in quarterly, uncompensated internships available in our offices in Los Angeles and New York City. In general, most internships last for 3 months, at 10-16 hours per week. See basic internship descriptions and locations below. INTERNSHIP – GRAPHIC DESIGN, NEW YORK

The Graphic Design Intern will have the opportunity to work closely with the marketing and design team, gaining hands on experience designing in a corporate setting. Interns will be involved in a variety of creative tasks including, but not limited to, creative brainstorms, maintaining internal brand collateral, photo-research, creative mocks for marketing presentations, layout design, etc.

The most qualified intern candidates will be college students studying Graphic Design with a focus on marketing, advertising and social media. We're looking for dedicated, committed candidates that have an interest in the LGBT market. Additionally, interns should be efficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office (specifically Powerpoint), detail oriented, able to multitask and capable of working in a fast paced environment.

INTERNSHIP - DIGITAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP, NEW YORK

The Digital Media Intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design and production of large-scale, ad-supported websites including Out.com, Advocate.com, and OutTraveler.com. Interns will be involved with a wide variety of tasks including wire framing, prototyping, preparation of mockups, and final Q/A. Interns will gain real-world insight in the development of high-traffic web sites from initial concept to final launch.

The most qualified intern candidates will be college students studying Digital Media with a major focus on web design as it relates to news, advertising and social media. We're looking for dedicated, committed candidates that have an interest in the LGBT market. Additionally, interns should have basic familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite. Any HTML or coding skills are a plus.

INTERNSHIP – INTEGRATED MARKETING INTERN, NEW YORK

The Integrated Marketing Intern will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with both print and digital advertising. Interns will participate in sales and marketing meetings and work directly with those who are experienced in the field. Interns will be involved with many tasks including conducting research, competitive analysis, preparing media kits, planning and staffing advertiser events (Pride Events, OUT 100, etc.).

Interns will work alongside marketing managers in organizing, researching and executing long-term projects or special marketing initiatives.

The most qualified applicants will be college students with a career focus in advertising and marketing, with interest and skills in the print, digital and social media medium. We're looking for dedicated, committed candidates that have an interest in the LGBT market. Additionally, the candidate is detail-oriented, able to multitask, and capable of working independently. Familiarity with blogging, wikis, and social media is a plus.

INTERNSHIP – EDITORIAL INTERN, LOS ANGELES

Editorial internships are offered in Los Angeles for Advocate.com, which includes the opportunity to work with our partner site geared toward LGBT millennials, Pride.com. Interns will play an active role in the day-to-day production of online editorial, including content gathering, research, reporting, editing, and more. Writing assignments may be possible, depending upon qualifications, but cannot be guaranteed. Interns are invited to join daily editorial planning meetings and will work closely with editors, and photo department, and other staff to complete both assigned projects and stories of the intern’s choosing. Preferred editorial intern candidates will have a related field of study and a career interest in journalism or publishing. Those with published clips or editorial roles in print or digital publications, including school papers and magazines, are encouraged to apply. Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills are required.
